Soloist of the Month: Mikk Langeproon



Mikk Langeproon (1995) started playing the accordion at the age of 8. His studies started in Tallinn Music School, by several teachers: Igor Jõeleht, Kristel Laas. After that he continued his studies in Georg Ots Tallinn Music College in Tiina Välja´s accordion class. At the same time he finished the German Gymnasium in Kadriorg with highest honors. In the year 2017 Mikk finished his Bachelor studies in Finland at the Sibelius Academy in prof. Matti Rantanen´s class and in years 2017-2018 he mastered his skills in the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz by prof. Janne Rättyä. In 2019 he finished his Master studies in Sibelius Academy in Finland.


Mikk has participated in several competitions in Estonia: in the year 2006 he won the Estonian National Championships among 10-year old players and got the second place in 2010. In 2014 he won the middle level school accordion competition in Tartu. Besides he has also performed in international competitions: in 2011 he got a diploma and in 2013 won the second place at the well-known Vilnius accordion competition. At Pula accordion competition in Croatia, he was awarded with a diploma in 2014 for his performance. In addition to that, he has played chamber music with several instruments and achieved a special prize at a chamber music competition in Rakvere, Estonia. Besides he has been chosen the best instrumentalist in Georg Ots Tallinn Music College´s accordion department in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2016 he was chosen “The Musician of the year” in a city called Viimsi.


To Mikk´s very important achievements belongs also a special prize from the Round Table competition in Tallinn at the end of year 2014 and reaching the final stage in TV competition “Classic Stars 2016” and “Young composer 2017” competition. In 2019 he was one of the soloists at the Estonian 150th anniversary song-festival. He has worked hard to raise the importance of the accordion as a classical instrument, by performing in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, Austria, Croatia and China. From 2019 Mikk is the board member of Estonian Accordion Association.
