BIOGRAPHY

Pauli Pappinen (1997) started his double bass -studies in Kokkola, Finland when he was 7-years old. He studied with Jorma Lappalainen and Oskari Hannula until he moved to Helsinki and started university studies in Sibelius Academy in a class of Aapo Juutilainen. From 2017 Pappinen has been studying in Berlin with Prof Esko Laine in HfM Hans Eisler. Pappinen has also received tuition e.g. from Janne Saksala, Ivan Monighetti and Niek de Groot.


Pappinen has been playing and substituting in various orchestras, such as Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Finnish National Opera and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also served as a principal double bass in youth orchestras e.g. Orkester Norden and Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra cooperation with Juilliard School (in tour Sweden,USA). As a soloist Pappinen has performed for example with FRSO, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra and Baden-Baden Philharmonic orchestra. As a chamber musician in various festivals he has performed and worked with e.g. Timothy Jones, Dag Jensen, Thomas Djupsjöbacka, Lucas
Macías Navarro, Isabel Charisius. From season 2018-19 Pappinen is also a member in the chamber music academy Villa Musica in western Germany.
