BIOGRAPHY

Irina Rusu is a Moldovan violinist who has been performing in concerts, festivals and competitions from an early age. Born on 24 November, 1991 in Chisinau, she plays on a violin by Jaakko Mäkelä from the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Rusu participated in numerous concerts, festivals and international competitions such as “Jeunesses Musicales” Romania, “Delphic Games” Ukraine, “Nedealca Simeonova” Bulgaria, to name a few, and was awarded with various grants.

In Spring 2014, she made her debut in the USA after winning a Grand Prix in the international competition “Concert Festival” and was awarded a performance in Carnegie Hall, New York. Beside her solo career, Rusu has been playing as violinist with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Pori Sinfonietta, among others. Between 2008 and 2009, Rusu is appointed concertmaster of the Jalas Chamber Orchestra (awarded with the title “Ambassador of Young Culture” by The Finnish Ministry of Education). In 2012, she was the concertmaster of Chisinau Youth Orchestra in Moldova and a former member of the Classical Concert Chamber Orchestra from Los Angeles, USA.
