Helsinki Chamber Orchestra & Värina Choir: Gloria!

Chamber Choir Värinä celebrates its tenth anniversary in a special concert titled Gloria! The programme praises music and life, echoing a full scale of emotions ranging from sadness to longing, fear, love, hate, consolation and hope, but first of all joy. Two Baroque masterpieces are paired with contemporary music. The choir joins forces with Helsinki Chamber Orchestra, conducted by James Kahane, to perform Magnificat by J. D. Zelenka and cantata Gloria in excelsis Deo by J. S. Bach. The choir, conducted by Noora Hirn, will also sing modern choral music by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, Caroline Shaw, Karin Rehnqvist and Linda Alexandersson. Moreover, the concert includes a first performance, Tässä on lohtu by composer Pasi Lyytikäinen and poet Henriikka Tavi, both singers of Chamber Choir Värinä.
