Helsinki Chamber Orchestra & Kitara Nova

The contemporary guitar music festival Kitara Nova is  celebrating its fifth year! The final concert of the festival is  celebrating this event with a premiere of a brand new guitar concerto  “Pisces-Mime” by Leevi Räsänen. The piece is performed by the guitarist  Teuvo Taimioja with Helsinki Chamber Orchestra conducted by Elisar  Riddelin.

Räsänen and  Taimioja have worked together during all of their studies and Teuvo has  premiered all of Leevi’s works for the guitar. They ended up by chance  in a student exchange program together in Glasgow for several months.  The idea for a concerto was born during this time on the highlands of  Scotland and is the pinnacle of both their professional relationship and  friendship.

In addition to the concerto the concert will also showcase talented young guitar students from different music schools.
